Make This: Flower Shoes

What you'll need:

- One pair of canvas shoes

- Paint Brushes

- White Acrylic Paint

- Light Green Acrylic Paint

- Dark Green Acrylic Paint

- Acrylic Paint for the "Background Color"

- Acrylic Paint for the Flower Color (color not specified because it's up to your preference!)

- Waterproof Fabric Sealant

- Optional (But Recommended) Fabric Medium (Mix this in with the paint to make it more flexible and adhere better to the shoe/prevent cracking)

Steps:

1. Paint the entire shoe white. This will act as your primer and make the colors more vibrant.

2. Paint Flowers with "Medium" Shade.

Using whatever color you chose for the flowers mix it with a little bit of white paint to create a "medium color." Use a large paintbrush to do broad strokes in a circular pattern. If you like, you can leave some white space in-between strokes like shown above.

3. Paint Flowers with "Base" Shade

Now you will repeat the same step above but this time using with paint WITHOUT mixing white into it.

4. Paint Flowers with "Light" Shade

For the third time, repeat this step using your base color with more white paint added than for the "Medium" shade.

5. Paint the Shape of the Leaves with the Light Green Paint

6. Add the Dark Green Paint to the Leaves

This will add depth to the leaves you just painted.

7. Paint the background

Take the color you chose for the background and CAREFULLY paint in-between the flowers. This will take patience because you don't want to mess up the beautiful flowers you created!

8. Let the shoes dry completely before sealing

9. Seal them!

Using the waterproof fabric sealant (I usually use Never Wet or Scotch Guard Outdoor). This will make sure that any moisture that touches the shoes will not harm your artwork!

10. Time to show them off!
